It was an honour for Zoewebs to serve as the Official Supporting Partner of Dong Lian Hui for the 2026 National Chinese Independent High School Sports Championship.
The championship brought together Chinese independent high schools for a large-scale sporting event involving multiple sports, participating schools, teams, matches and competition stages. With a significant amount of information being generated throughout the event, a reliable digital platform was needed to connect the organisers, students, schools, parents and supporters.
For Zoewebs, the project was more than simply developing an event website. We were involved in building and supporting the digital infrastructure behind the championship, covering the official website, scoring system, live match updates and live streaming.
The project also gave our team the opportunity to work closely with Dong Lian Hui, the organising committee and student volunteers to develop a practical digital solution that could operate effectively within the available budget and manpower.
2. Customer Requirements: Website, Scoring, Live Updates & Live Streaming
Dong Lian Hui required a comprehensive digital platform to support the championship before, during and after the event.
The key requirements included four major areas.
Official Championship Website
A central website was needed to provide information about the championship, participating schools, sports categories, teams, schedules, news, photos and other event content.
Scoring System
The championship required a digital scoring system that could support multiple sports and display match scores and competition results clearly.
Live Match Updates
The organisers needed a practical way to update scores, match information, news and photos while the championship was taking place.
Live Streaming
The event also required live streaming capabilities so that supporters who could not attend the physical venues could follow selected matches online.
The overall objective was to bring these different components together into one connected digital experience.
3. The Challenges
Although the requirements were clear, the project presented several practical challenges that needed to be addressed during development.
Supporting Multiple Sports
The championship involved multiple sporting disciplines, each with different competition formats and scoring requirements.
The system therefore needed to be flexible enough to support different sports rather than being designed around a single competition format.
Making the System User-Friendly
The website and scoring system would need to be updated continuously throughout the championship.
The people responsible for updating scores, news and photos would not necessarily be technical specialists, so the system needed to be simple and intuitive enough for them to operate during a busy event.
Limited Budget
As this was a school-related sporting event, the available budget was limited.
We therefore needed to find practical ways to deliver the required digital infrastructure while keeping development and operational costs under control.
Limited Manpower
Another major challenge was manpower.
A multi-sport championship can generate hundreds of updates, scores, photos and other pieces of information, but Zoewebs had a limited team available to manage the entire operation.
Rather than simply increasing the project cost by adding more manpower, we looked for a collaborative approach involving student volunteers.
4. Our Solution
To address these challenges, Zoewebs combined existing technologies, AI-assisted development and close collaboration with Dong Lian Hui and student volunteers.
Website: WordPress, Sports System & AI-Assisted Design
For the official championship website, we selected WordPress as the core platform.
WordPress provided the flexibility needed to manage the large amount of event content while making it easier for the organisers and trained students to update the website.
For the competition component, we researched and selected a suitable sports management and scoring system that could support the championship’s requirements across multiple sports.
We also incorporated AI-assisted design and development into our workflow. This helped us explore design concepts and accelerate certain development processes, allowing our limited resources to be used more efficiently.
YouTube as the Live Streaming Platform
For live broadcasting, rather than developing an expensive standalone streaming infrastructure, we used YouTube as the primary live streaming platform.
The live broadcasts could then be embedded into the official championship website.
This provided a practical and cost-effective way to connect the website with live video content while allowing audiences to watch selected matches online.
Working Together With Students
To address the manpower challenge, Zoewebs worked closely with student volunteers.
Rather than having our team handle every score, news update, photo and video ourselves, we trained students to take responsibility for different parts of the digital operation.
Students were trained to:

This collaborative approach allowed the project to operate on a larger scale while also giving students practical experience in digital content management and event technology.
Keeping the Project Within Budget
Using student volunteers significantly reduced the manpower required during the event.
We also made use of existing platforms such as WordPress and YouTube, while AI-assisted workflows helped improve development efficiency.
In addition, Zoewebs was pleased to contribute part of the project as CSR support for the school and championship.
By combining these approaches, we were able to reduce the overall project cost while still delivering a comprehensive digital solution.
5. Project Execution
The project was carried out across three main phases: pre-event, during the event and post-event.
Pre-Event: Development, Testing & Training
A significant amount of preparation took place before the championship.
Developing the Website & Scoring System
Zoewebs developed the official website and configured the scoring system according to the requirements of the different sports and competition formats.
Multiple Meetings With Dong Lian Hui
We held multiple meetings with the Dong Lian Hui team to understand their requirements, competition structure and expectations.
These discussions allowed us to refine the system based on the actual needs of the event.
Joining Organiser Committee Meetings
To better understand how the championship would operate in practice, Zoewebs also participated in organiser committee meetings.
This was important because developing an effective event system requires more than understanding the technical requirements. We needed to understand the actual workflow of the organisers, schools, students and competition teams.
Developing & Testing Together
The website and scoring system were developed and tested together with the organisers before the event.
This allowed the team to identify potential issues early, make improvements and ensure that the system was practical for real-world event operations.
Training Student Volunteers
Zoewebs provided training to the student volunteers who would assist with the digital operation.
The students were taught how to carry out their assigned tasks and operate the relevant systems.
Coordinating Accounts & Responsibilities
We also coordinated with students regarding their:

The goal was to ensure everyone understood what they needed to do, how to do it and when to do it before the championship began.
During the Event: Live Digital Support
Once the championship started, Zoewebs moved into the live support phase.
Live Score Updates
Student volunteers were responsible for updating scores and match information throughout the competition.
Zoewebs provided technical support to help ensure the scoring system continued operating properly.
News & Photo Updates
Students also helped update the website with event news and photographs, keeping the website active throughout the championship.
Live Streaming Support
Students were involved in capturing live video from the competition venues and supporting the live streaming workflow.
The live broadcasts were made available online and integrated into the official website so audiences could watch the matches remotely.
Server Upgrade for Mass Traffic
As the championship generated increased interest and website traffic, server capacity was upgraded to support the higher number of visitors.
This was particularly important during peak periods when large numbers of users were accessing schedules, results, scores and live content at the same time.
Post-Event: Reporting & Post-Mortem
After the championship concluded, Zoewebs continued supporting the project through reporting and analysis.
Project Report
We prepared a project report documenting the work completed throughout the championship, including the website, scoring system, live updates and streaming support.
Website Traffic & Server Performance Report
We also provided reports covering website traffic and server performance.
This allowed the organisers to understand how the website performed throughout the event and how the infrastructure handled the increased traffic.
Post-Mortem
A post-mortem review was conducted to evaluate the overall project.
We reviewed what worked well, the challenges encountered during the event and areas that could be improved for future championships.
This process provided valuable insights for both Dong Lian Hui and Zoewebs.

The live broadcasts also attracted online viewers, extending the reach of the championship beyond the physical venues.
People who could not attend the event in person could still follow selected matches through the online broadcasts.
Strong SEO Visibility
Beyond the event functionality, the website also achieved strong organic search visibility.
The official Dong Lian Hui website ranked No. 1 on Google for several major relevant keywords, including “donglian”, “独中”, “独中球赛” and “董联会”.
This helped make the official website easier to discover when users searched for Dong Lian Hui and information related to the championship.
Positive Testimonial
The project also received a positive testimonial from the organiser, providing valuable feedback and recognition of Zoewebs’ contribution to the championship.
7. An Honour to Support Dong Lian Hui
The Dong Lian Hui website development project demonstrated how different digital technologies can work together to support a large-scale sporting event.
By combining an official website, multi-sport scoring system, live match updates, live streaming, digital content management and technical support, the project provided a one-stop digital solution for the sports event.
For Zoewebs, it was also a valuable experience in managing the unique requirements of a national-level, multi-sport championship while working within real-world limitations such as budget and manpower.
The collaboration with Dong Lian Hui, the organising committee and student volunteers showed us the value of combining professional digital expertise with community participation. The involvement of students was particularly meaningful, as it allowed them to gain hands-on experience in website management, digital content, scoring updates and live streaming.
